Above & Beyond: Smile

This is what we want the community to see whenever they attend one of our classes, sessions, or events.

This is what we want the community to walk away with after sharing time and space with us.

This is what we want to pass along to one another no matter where we are or what we’re doing.

Above & Beyond: Ameur Guesmi aka Bboy Zulu Rema

Connecting to something bigger than oneself ignites the imagination and fuels possibility.

Having Ameur Guesmi aka Bboy Zulu Rema with us was 100% pure concentrated brilliance.

For our young breakers to see Hip Hop’s impact in the global context through the eyes of a 21-year-old old Tunisian B-boy and visual artist was an unforgettable experience.

For him to take the time to train with our students, sharing knowledge and techniques was legendary.

Thank you, Rema, and the folks at Hip Hop Association of Advancement and Education (HHAAE) for blessing us.

You have fam here in Lansing Michigan. | AOTA

Above & Beyond: Flava In Ya Ear

Sitting in a session with Y’z and his protégés is a treat for the eyes and ears.

Being there allows you to hear creativity at work. You get a taste of all the sounds being poured together into a gumbo of melodies, drum patterns, breaks, and bass.

Y’z is there to stir their ingredients. His spoon is words of encouragement and direction. It’s wonderful to hear. | AOTA

Quality Control

Quality control. Think about what that phrase means.

Its definition insinuates organization. It stands for responsibility. In the right hands it denotes a bright future.

Every last Saturday of the month Quality Control is in the hands of AOTA educator Y’z Council.

The producer/DJ and his understudy The Juice, the future of Hip Hop culture, play a thrilling live set from The Record Lounge in REO Town.

Assuming control, Y’z ensures that everyone watching via Twitch.tv/Aotahiphop will see and hear the best presentation of musical excellence.

They’ll understand the quality that’s being taught to our students and community.

Each one, teach one. #Build517
