One of the hardships of the current age is the ability to understand one another. Miscommunication and misunderstandings lead to mass amounts of frustration. Reading, writing, and listening to poetry gives people the improved ability to understand others.

Tonight, we dive deep into parts of ourselves that we want you to understand, what we want you to feel, and what to take home with them that will resonate long after the event. For all those who attend, this event promises to give you the patience to look into someone else’s mind and cultivate empathy for another person. Both conveying personal opinion and the ability to empathize are tantamount to respectable communication.

The showcase centers around the students Masaki Takahashi has been able to workshop with from Ms. Hall’s Everett High School English class and a couple of students from All Above Hip Hop.

The event was brought to you by The City of Lansing, Lansing Art Council’s Mini-Grant and All Above Hip Hop. Each student from this event will be paid to perform.
